     What is Vinyasa Yoga

Vinyasa yoga means the “posture/asana”  is flowing, moving and guided from one to another by the normal rhythm of your breath. Yoga is an ideal practice for everyone, no matter what physical shape you are in. Classes may consist of many people with a variety of yoga backgrounds. A practitioner of several years can stand next to someone who has never walked onto a yoga mat before.  Someone may have neck and back problems, chronic headaches, and shoulder or knee injuries. Yoga is one of the best exercises for people with arthritis, fibromyalgia and heart disease. It is also highly recommended for pregnant women.

The stretching and breathing performed in yoga can help improve circulation. The combination of flexibility, cleansing breath and inner serenity can help with aging. We have 40, 50, 60, and 70-year-old ladies and gentlemen in classes who practice yoga regularly and they look and feel healthy.

  Vinyasa: All levels:

This class is a great place to start for those who have never taken yoga before. It is

also a wonderful class for anyone interested in working deeper on the fundamentals of their practice. Yoga is about execution of each pose to his/her own capability and comfort. You will learn the name for each asana/ pose, be taught proper alignment, balance and how to modify each pose if necessary to make it comfortable and safe.  Breathing techniques will be explained as you learn to "flow" the postures through the vinyasa class.

   Saturday Vinyasa: (90 minute class)

If you wish to deepen your knowledge and experience of yoga this class is for you.   You will learn the nuances of each asana and how to make them work for you. Instruction  will include how to relate to the asana; modifying them for your own body’s strengths and finding areas that may need extra attention. The  instructor may include the use of basic props to adjust for proper balance, stretch and body alignment. This will be an enjoyable free flowing class allowing you to personalize your own growth.  Your instructor will guide and encourage you to try something new and more challenging during this 90 minute class.

Start your yoga journey on the right path and make it a life long achievement.

Meditation: (20 minute session)  All levels

This special class will precede the Saturday morning class. We will explore the Chakras, Pranayama (breath awareness) and take nature walks through guided imagery and visualization. You will discover how your breath can be used to release stress and focus the mind. Through meditation you may even find a deeper relationship with your own inner guidance.

 “Sterling Silvers” Senior's Yoga Class:

This class is for everyone with heart, courage and worldly experience.  It is available for those who may need extra attention and help. It will move at a slower/gentle pace using blocks, straps and the wall to help achieve proper body alignment, balance, strength and flexibility. Try this class before moving on to the other classes if you have any concerns.

 "Monday Night Meltdown"

This class is an adaption of hot yoga.  The room will be warmed up to 85*

and a slow flow "Vinyasa" class will be instructed.  You will need a hand towel and possibly a yoga mat towel; you will sweat!

  Gentle Yoga  Wednesdays

During the winter months for all Wednesday classes, you will stay down on your mat for deep stretching and twists.  This class will move at a slower/gentle pace using blocks, straps, bolsters and the wall to help achieve proper body alignment, balance, strength and flexibility.  You will find it to be a relaxing change of pace from our regular summer Vinyasa style class.
